Adams Town officials are back to square one after a search for a new town administrator did not yield enough qualified candidates to continue.

The Berkshire Eagle reports Christine Hoyt, member of the Select Board and liaison to the search committee, declined to state how many candidates applied, saying that because discussions were in executive session that information is not public.

Whatever the number, the field lacked enough candidates.

The board sought a list of three finalists and Hoyt said that wasn't possible.

As a result, the board dissolved the search committee in late May.

The town administrator position has been vacant since the departure of Tony Mazzucco in December 2017.
