As recreational marijuana sales come online, more people are expected to drive while impaired.

The Berkshire Eagle reports, however, that until Massachusetts law catches up with cannabis culture, keeping roads safe will remain a challenge for police and prosecutors.

A special commission is on the case, but its report isn't due until January.

For the time being, police departments increasingly are relying on one existing tool — drug-recognition expert training for officers — to identify impaired drivers.
