Art Babayan says he really likes the people he's met in Adams during the course of his search for a place to establish a marijuana cultivation facility.

The Berkshire Eagle reports Babayan is in the process of purchasing and preparing a building at 173 Howland Ave., which now houses Lane Construction Corp.

It sits in an industrial zone, with similar uses on nearby properties.

Babayan said he expects to close on the sale of the property during the next couple of weeks.

When the sale is complete, he will start working and securing and winterizing the building with work on roofing and siding, and then move inside to complete the interior during the winter months.

He hopes to begin operations within the first half of 2019.
