The calendar has flipped to November, which means that the Western Mass. fall sports tourney time is here, and several local teams are in the hunt for championships.

Football semifinals will be played Friday night at 7:00, and in Div. VIII the 3rd seeded Hoosac Valley Hurricanes will take a 5-2 record on the road to #2 seed Turners Falls (7-1). The other semifinal has top-seeded Lee hosting Ware.  Division VII boasts an all-Berkshire semi, as top-seeded Wahconah takes on #4 Taconic.  Winners move on to W. Mass title games next weekend, with the ultimate goal being state championship games at Gillette Stadium.

There's non-playoff football this weekend for Drury, playing at Pathfinder; McCann is at Franklin County Tech and Mt.Greylock travels to Monument Mountain.

W.Mass soccer tourneys also start this weekend. North County schools will be represented in the Boys field by Mt. Greylock. Seeded #6 in Division 3 they are scheduled to play #11 Wahconah this Friday night at 7:00 at MCLA, according to the MIAA website.

The Mt. Greylock girls are seeded 8th in Div. 3 and have a match against #9 Palmer scheduled for 5 P.M. Friday at MCLA.  Hoosac Valley as the #10 seed will play at #7 Mahar Friday at 3:00. #14 Drury is scheduled to play at #3 Monson Saturday at 2:30.
