The race for the Board of Selectmen in Adams is on with five candidates vying for two seats this May.

IBerkshires.com reports up for election is a three-year term currently held by John Duval and a second three-year term that was vacated with the resignation of Arthur Harrington last year.

Duval, chairman of the board, will defend his seat from the other four candidates who returned their papers Monday. James Bush, Heather Marie Cachat, Wayne Piaggi and Donald Sommer will be on the ballot this year.

The two highest vote-getters will win the seats and at least one of the challengers will be seated.

The museum is asking Lowy to approve an agreement that would allow it to sell up to 40 pieces of art, including works by Norman Rockwell. The judge didn't immediately rule yesterday.
