The town of Adams has received five bids for the Visitors Center Parking Lot Improvement Project.

IBerkshires.com reports that the bids were opened Thursday last week and C&A Construction Co. Inc. of Ludlow came in with the lowest bid of $518,000.

Other much higher bids, in the $680,000 range, were submitted by Clayton Davenport Trucking of Greenfield, Burke Construction of Adams, and J.H. Maxymillian Inc. of Pittsfield.

The contract has not been yet been granted. The bulk of the cost will be covered the town's $800,000 2017 Community Development Block Grant.
