A boil water order has been issued in Adams by The Fire District/Water Department.  During a routine test done on Monday, a water sample tested positive for E. coli.  Coliform bacteria was detected in a water storage tank.

According to an announcement by the Town's Water District, Adams residents should not drink water from their water tap; all water from the tap should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, food preparation, ice making, brushing teeth or washing dishes until further notice.  Discard all ice, beverages, uncooked foods, and formula made with tap water collected on or after Monday.

According to a notice from the Fire District, they will begin adding chlorine into the well and monitor the well several times a day and do an evaluation of the entire water system.

According to the boil order:

"We anticipate resolving the problem as soon as possible and will inform you when you no longer need to boil your water or use an alternative source of water."
