The Berkshire Eagle reports though gas prices in Massachusetts have climbed for two months, paying more at the pump isn't expected to deter motorists from traveling during Memorial Day weekend.

The Berkshire Eagle reports, nationally, gas prices are at their highest level in four years, inching toward to the $3 per gallon mark.

Nonetheless, almost 42 million Americans are expected to travel next weekend, the largest number since 2005 and a 5 percent increase from last year, according to AAA Northeast.

By far, most of those travelers — 36.6 million — are expected to drive. That number is 4.7 percent higher than in 2017.
